Each November during National Apprenticeship Week, the CAF sponsors a Hands-on Construction & Skilled Trades Day the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana. This construction career event brings together all of the building and construction apprenticeship training centers under one roof. The event is open to all high schools from Lake, Porter, La Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Starke counties. Students will have the opportunity to perform hands-on construction related tasks with trainers and apprentices as well as learn about careers in the building and construction trades.
The CAF has a knowledgeable construction career representative on staff who can visit local high schools, adult education centers, veteran groups, and other community organizations to give presentations on all the various career paths that exist in construction. The CAF can also help arrange student field trips to local construction jobsites for students enrolled in a high school building trades program.
